At Bayside you will be treated by one of our four experienced physiotherapists who are all committed to providing you with the best treatment possible.  Ongoing training is a high priority for our physiotherapists, enabling them to further improve their skills which translates to better treatment for you.

Massage therapy is also now available at Bayside Physiotherapy. Our massage therapist is experienced and well versed in different  techniques enabling her to provide the massage that is right for you.

Mark Cassidy

Hervey Bay Sports Physio

 Mark Cassidy is the director and practice principal of Bayside Physiotherapy.  With more than 26 years experience as a physiotherapist, Mark is also an APA Sports Physiotherapist. He completed his Masters Degree in Sports Physiotherapy in 2000 and was awarded the Sports Physiotherapist title by the Australian Physiotherapy Association the same year.

Mark has previously been the principal of practices in Randwick, Sydney and Leeton in rural NSW and took over at Bayside Physiotherapy, Hervey Bay in August 2003.

Mark has worked with athletes from a wide range of sports and has also worked as a physiotherapist in the athlete’s village at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games and with the Oceania team at the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games. He has worked with various rugby teams including the NSW and Australian Women’s teams, Eastern Suburbs 1st Grade, Sydney, NSW Country, Australian Universities Team  and the Queensland Country Heelers Rugby Union team.

Mark is a strong believer in ‘hands on’ physiotherapy. His ‘hands on’ treatments follow a thorough assessment and diagnosis of the individual client. He also provides specifically tailored exercises to fit in with an individual’s unique lifestyle and needs.

With a strong sense of community, Mark is involved in various local clubs including Hervey Bay Surf Life Saving Club and Hervey Bay Junior Rugby Union. Though long since past his sporting prime, Mark still enjoys playing touch football as well as the odd game of rugby union with the Hervey Bay Golden Oldies. He spends his precious spare time following his young family’s sporting and cultural pursuits and enjoying the natural delights Hervey Bay has to offer.

 

Jacob Walmsley

Hervey Bay Physiotherapist

 Jacob Walmsley is a physiotherapist passionate about exercise and sport.  He has degrees in both Physiotherapy and Exercise Science from Griffith University on the Gold Coast.  Prior to this he completed a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science at the University of Queensland.  His interests within the physiotherapy field include sporting rehabilitation and strength training for athletes and the elderly.

Jacob’s sporting interests include strength training, rugby union, touch football, swimming, cycling and martial arts. He was Queensland Taekwondo Heavyweight Sparring Champion for several years and currently plays rugby with the Fraser Coast Mariners.

Jacob enjoys Hervey Bay and the opportunities it offers to young professionals and also its vast number of different sporting groups. The wonderful outdoor lifestyle of Hervey Bay is something Jacob relishes.  Jacob has plans to be involved with the physiotherapy and training of several sporting groups and is looking at running age specific training programs for the elderly.

 

Samantha Jones 

Hervey Bay Physiotherapist

Samantha is not only a trained physiotherapist (1988, University of Qld), but also has a Master of Counselling (2005, Qld University of Technology). This makes her extremely well qualified to treat the whole person, mind and body, when it comes to injury rehabilitation and pain management.

Samantha has recently moved from the Sunshine Coast to Hervey Bay to be with her fiance. On the Sunshine Coast she worked in a physiotherapy practice part time and also as a job capacity assessor for a non government agency. Smantha has an interest in mental health and the role of exercise and sport in maintaining good mental health.

Samantha's most recent sporting involvement was with the Outrigger Canoe Club Caloundra and she is hoping to take up this watersport again, now she is in Hervey Bay.

Although only new to Hervey Bay she enjoys working and living here and is looking forward to meeting and treating you.
 

Melanie Jinks

Hervey Bay physiotherapist 

Melanie has recently moved from rural Victoria to Hervey Bay. She is excited about living the Queensland lifestyle.

As well as seeing patients in the clinic, Mel runs individual hydrotherapy sessions at the Acquatic Centre

 

 

Brette Pope

Hervey Bay Massage Therapist

Brette Pope is our massage therapist. She has an interest in promoting good health and fitness. She  holds a Certificate IV in Massage and Diploma in Remedial Massage.She is a registered member of the Australian Traditional-Medicine Society (ATMS).
